Understand your invoice

Last updated: July 23, 2026

Your invoice shows what your family owes for your child's ABA therapy after insurance has paid its part. This article explains where to find your invoices in the portal, what the line items mean, and how to read the amount due. For step-by-step instructions on making a payment, see Paying Your Family's Patient Responsibility.

Where to find your invoices

In the portal's left-hand menu, under Parent Tools, select Billing & Payments. This page shows your family's share of your child's therapy: the amount left after your insurance pays. From here you can review charges, download invoices, and pay a balance.

Sessions are grouped by month. Each month shows how many sessions it includes and whether it's Paid in full or still has a balance (marked as a statement that's open). You can expand a month to see the individual sessions, and use the Invoice button to download a PDF for that month, whether it's paid or not.

Reading the line items

When you expand a month, each session appears as its own line with these columns:

  • Date — the date of the session.

  • Service — the type of therapy provided.

  • Status — whether the session is PaidNot paid, or No charge (nothing is owed for it).

  • Your share — the amount your family is responsible for on that session.

What "patient responsibility" means

"Patient responsibility" is simply your family's share of the cost, the part your insurance plan expects you to pay rather than covering itself. On your invoice this is shown as Your share. A few common insurance terms determine how large that share is:

  • Deductible — the amount you pay out of pocket before your insurance starts covering its portion. Until your deductible is met, your share is usually higher.

  • Copay — a fixed amount you pay for a service (for example, a set dollar amount per visit).

  • Coinsurance — a percentage of the cost you pay after your deductible is met (for example, you pay a set percentage and insurance pays the rest).

Which of these apply, and how much, depends on your specific plan. Your patient responsibility on any given session reflects how your plan's deductible, copay, and coinsurance were applied to that visit.

Reading the amount due

For each month, the portal shows an Amount due when there's an open balance, or a Total when everything is paid. When a balance is owed, you'll see a Pay button with the exact dollar amount. You can also select individual sessions, or a whole month, to pay several at once.

A session marked No charge means nothing is owed for it, so it won't add to your amount due.

Invoices vs. payment receipts

There are two related places in the portal:

  • Billing & Payments is where you review what's owed, download invoices, and pay.

  • Payment Receipts (also under Parent Tools) is where you'll find a record of payments you've already made, including the date, amount, and a link to each receipt.
